Mitch Ballard says
Nice post. Content marketing tools are excellent but why there is only 1 social media optimization tool ?? There are plenty of well known free social media optimization tools like socialmention, howsociable, etc.
Tom Pick says
Hi Mitch – thanks for stopping by, and excellent questions. Social Mention is a fine tool; it was covered in a previous post in this series, The Nine Best Reputation Management, RSS, and Social Search Tools. HowSociable didn’t come up in the research I did across more than 100 tool review posts to prepare this series, which is interesting, considering its longevity – I actually wrote it once before, but back in 2010: Best Cool Web Tools of 2009, Part 2. I’ll add it to this post, great catch!
Vashishtha Kapoor says
I have already used Knowem tool for social media marketing and planning. All other tools are new to me. I will have a look as I have saved it here.
Thanks
Tom Pick says
Thanks Vashishtha, great to hear! It’s a collection of tools well worth checking into.
Brooke Harper says
Great list, Tom. Most of these are new to me, too. I might want to check them out and see if they fit our needs. Are there trial versions on most of these tools?
Tom Pick says
Hi Brooke – thanks! In most cases, it’s my understanding there are not free trials for these tools (though I believe Epic Track and Knowem offer trials), unlike many other categories. These are generally aimed at larger companies. However, you could contact any of the vendors and try to work something out; they may offer a trial for serious prospects. Good luck!
